LGBT ….

Growing up I had little contact with gays or any of those other letters. I am not certain I know what they all are so I will use the term gays to include all of them. We never had students we knew to be gay and only a couple of adults we were suspicious of. My first real contact I described (chapter 4) when I was in the Navy in Brunswick, GA. The first close contact was when I was working at HP in Corvallis in 1984/5. One of the engineers that came from R&D to help us get the thin films back on track for our first pen, St. Helens, was a known lesbian named Bonnie. My style of management was to have periodic one on one meetings with those who reported directly to me to insure we were on the same page with regard to goals, schedules, progress and measure of success. So, I had many meetings with Bonnie and we never discussed her life style, nor mine for that matter, and she did a good job for me and when I was promoted to Section Manager, I promoted Bonnie to replace me as Project Manager. To the dismay of some, I might add. After a couple of years working together, I was moved to final assembly and lost contact with her. She later got crossways with some of her managers and ended up leaving HP. I don’t know if it had anything to do with her lifestyle but there were rumors that she became a bit of an activist.

I believe that gays should receive the benefits, rights and respect that anyone gets. However, the gays are not satisfied with that. They want society to proclaim that their lifestyle is normal or natural. It is not. It is a deviation from the normal, it is unnatural. Heterosexual unions are both normal and necessary to procreate and raise children. The problem with proclaiming gay as normal is it will encourage young, confused people to consider it as an acceptable option. We don’t encourage people to be sadistic or masochistic. We should not encourage any deviant lifestyle as a normal option. They are not. It is the activist/leaders of the gay movement that push for a proclamation by all that they are normal. For many, it is the words that matter. To be called ‘intolerant’ is abhorrent! Regardless of the consequence of the actions, they want to be called tolerant so they feel better. However, leaders often do not necessarily represent the majority. One unrelated but simple example: In the 1980’s the leaders of the feminist movement were telling men that women wanted them to look them in the eye and not stare at their chests. Men listened. By the end of the 1990’s women were showing more and more breast and dresses were cut lower and lower to show more cleavage and get back men’s attention. Men looked. Listening to the leader/activists does not give the true picture. Most Americans are more than willing to tolerate people that are different, including Gays, and that is what tolerant means. To try to make something deviant accepted as normal, is destructive. (2022 add) It saddens me that many corporations, and even Hallmark Movies, are supporting this effort to make gay a normal option for young people. Hallmark movies, for example, was once a beacon for good Christian families and I suspect the major part of their audience is still Christian families. But now every movie has a gay couple. This is disaster for young people who often go through a time of confusion with regard to their sexual orientation. We can, and should, be tolerant without heralding deviant behavior as normal.

It should be very acceptable for two people of the same sex to live together. Often it is a good solution to loneliness. It is a problem only if they choose to engage in deviant sexual practices. They should live chaste. They should be friends, not lovers. Accepting something that is wrong is not tolerance, it is stupidity.

Now regarding gender identity: It is a sign of how dumbed down our population is when it becomes acceptable to just identify as what you choose to be, man or woman. There are such things as facts, things that are known. Whether you are man or woman is easily determined by chromosomes , xx a girl, xy a boy. Identifying as anything other than what you were at birth is ridiculous. Only someone who cannot think critically could swallow this nonsense and, unfortunately, there are far too many of these.
